BECOMING A REFEREE
Referees are critical to soccer - the game can't be played without them. The referee's job is to be the official in charge of the game. They are the independent arbiters and managers of the game. Their authority extends to everyone at the field, including players, substitutes, team officials, spectators, and even assistant referees.
Region 195 referees are responsible for enforcing the Laws of the Game in such a way as to keep the game safe, fair and fun for everyone: the players, the coaches, the spectators and themselves.
Why should you become an AYSO Region 195 Referee?
We need you. We can't have games without referees. More importantly, it's rewarding and working with kids is great fun! We want our kids to continue to play, and they keep playing as long as it is fun.
PLUS, you get all these great benefits:
- Great exercise
- A free uniform
- A small fan club of kids who think you're great and are thrilled to see you
- A great time - Like many before you, it may turn out to be the most fun you have had in a long time
Think you don't know enough about soccer to become a referee?
Most of us knew little, or less than you, about soccer when we became referees. Not to worry... We will train you with more knowledge of the Laws of the Game than most Americans ever possess.
If you are ready to become a referee or would like more information, contact our Referee Administrator at

Volunteer Page here– all volunteers must be registered as the first step.
Thank you!
